Golden Eagles Special Olympics Basketball Teams compete at state tournament
The Golden Eagles Special Olympics basketball teams competed in the state tournament in Mitchell.
In their divisions:
The Golden Eagles Blue Team received 1st place.
The Golden Eagles Gold Team received 4th place.
The Golden Eagles White team received 5th place.
Craig Johnson also received the award for the Spirit of Sportsmanship! Congratulations!

Aberdeen Central Esports Team performs well at state, brings home chess championship
Aberdeen Central’s Esports Team performed well at its first state tournament, taking home a championship in the chess division.
CHS student Grey Hauge won the chess championship for the Golden Eagles at the state tournament, which was held March 22-23 at SDSU in Brookings.
Central’s League of Legends team made it to the semi-finals, and the Rocket League team was only a few goals away from making it to the semi-finals. Congratulations! Read more here.
Fourth graders attend annual Ag Fair
On April 23, Fourth graders from the Aberdeen Public School District learned about agriculture—and got to pet some cute animals—at the 2024 Ag Fair! The event, organized by the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce and Groton FFA, was held at the Brown County Fairgrounds and featured various stations for students to learn about the different areas of ag!
